A glamorous vintage circa 1950s rhinestone brooch featuring an elegant asymmetrical swirl design filled with sparkling Aurora Borealis and clear crystal rhinestones.

The brooch is arranged around a large faceted round Aurora Borealis center stone, surrounded by concentric curves of smaller clear and iridescent rhinestones. A sweeping cluster of large marquise-cut AB stones extends along one side, giving the piece a graceful feather, leaf or flame-like silhouette.

The Aurora Borealis finish produces beautiful shifting flashes of pale blue, lavender, pink, aqua, gold and champagne depending on the light and viewing angle. Introduced into fashion jewelry during the 1950s, AB rhinestones became particularly associated with the glamorous cocktail and evening jewelry of the era.

The stones are individually prong set into a gold-tone metal setting, with an open-backed construction visible on the reverse. The brooch fastens with a traditional pin and rollover-style clasp.
