A glamorous vintage Lilyan Model half hat dating to approximately the late 1940s, featuring dense hand-applied black sequins, rich black velvet and dramatic oversized faceted black jewel accents.

This close-fitting sculptural hat features a smooth black velvet crown contrasted by a wide, heavily embellished sequin band that curves around the front and sides of the head. Rows of small black sequins create wonderful texture and subtle shimmer, while large faceted black stones punctuate the design with additional dimension and understated sparkle.

The softly rounded crown and low, close-fitting silhouette are characteristic of late 1940s millinery, when small decorative hats were designed to complement the elaborate hairstyles of the period rather than completely cover them.
