Some love stories begin with a person. Mine began with a hat.

It was the perfectly tilted Audrey Hepburn black and white derby hat from My Fair Lady — feathered, fabulous, and utterly unapologetic — and the moment I laid eyes on it, I knew I was done for. That one hat opened a door to a world I never wanted to leave: the glamour of the 1920s, the elegance of the 30s, the victory rolls and red lips of the 40s, the full skirts and cat-eye sunglasses of the 50s, the mod magic of the 60s.

How It All Began

For as long as I can remember, I've been obsessed with hats. Not just wearing them — making them. I went to a fashion design school with one dream: to become a milliner. To craft the kind of headpieces that make a room stop and stare, that give a woman that extra inch of confidence, that turn an outfit into a moment.

Life has a funny way of leading you exactly where you're meant to be, just not always the way you planned. My path to millinery wound through estate sales, flea markets, thrift stores, and forgotten closets — and somewhere along the way, I realized I didn't just want to make hats. I wanted to find them. To rescue the ones that had already lived a beautiful life and deserved to be loved again. The day I wrote this page, I hit 500. 500 hats and Im going to keep going.  500 hats and rarely any two alike. I have so many to find. :)

So, Ginger and Tonic was born — from a deep, unshakeable love for the golden eras of fashion and a lifelong devotion to the art of the hat.

A Personal Relationship With Every Hat

Here's something I'll tell you straight: I have a personal relationship with every single hat in this shop. Every one.

When I'm sourcing, I'm not just looking for something pretty. I'm looking for the one — the piece with the right bones, the right story, the right energy. I think about who might have worn it, where it might have been, and who it's waiting to meet next. That's the milliner in me. I can't help it, and I wouldn't want to.

Every hat, fascinator, pair of sunglasses, and piece of jewelry in our collection is chosen with intention — because to me, curation is design. It's just design with history built in.
